It’s been a crazy busy month, I had forgot to post this. Here’s my latest article for the Irish Times that was published May 27th 2021 The sunlight is intense today, with discernable beams filling any gaps afforded by the towering trees of Central Park. Nature is in full bloom; daffodils bright yellow against the green grass, the cherry blossom trees a resplendent pink, adding a splash of colour against the blue sky. Ducks waddle to and fro before eventually taking to the pond. Voices are audible. Children are playing and laughing. Joggers trundle past. A crystal blue sky serves as the canopy for the scene. Grand Openings and New Beginnings
July 1st sees the full re-opening of New York. For those of us who live here, it already feels like a new beginning. Almost everything is open. The only thing I can’t do is work in my office. I joined my company during the pandemic, so I’ve never actually met any of my new colleagues in person. But at this point, I’m “zoomed” out, so I’d relish a few optional days in the office later this year. An additional bonus includes finally discarding my mask since, per the CDC’s guidance, I’m fully vaccinated. Which couldn’t have come sooner. I have run by Javits Centre numerous times on my weekly workouts, still possible within midtown because traffic and people are still light on the ground, where they are supposedly deploying mass vaccinations. But each time I go by, there is no one there.

Three years and one pandemic later…

I lost a few other folks along the way, including my brother. But here we all stand, a testament to resilience but really, more one of luck.
